In love with Conservation Biology

Hi guys : How  have you been doing? Too much work? We are approaching the end  of the term, so it must be tiring, right?  I suppose  you've   got to study for all your subjects and try  to pass them all. How many subjects have you had this term?   What is your favourite one? What type of subject was it,? I mean, did you have to do practical or theoretical activities? Was it hard or easy? What were the main contents you've seen in that subject? Why did you like it: was it because of the contents? the teacher?the schedule? Use 180 words and don't forget to leave comments on 3 of your classmates'posts.

Wow this semester has been hard. I'm a little bit late with subjects, cause about a year ago, I wanted to change to another career quite similar to this one, in Austral University of Chile. This other career had a focus on conservation of natural resources, a field of this career I like the most. Well, finally I realised that staying here was a smarter desition, but anyway I didn't took a couple of subjects that didn't apply there, like physics 2 or statistic 2, so I delayed with the curriculum grid. So sad.

In practice, that meant making a harder effort to be update, so this semester I took 7 subjects: (1) General administration, (2) Environmental ethics and legislation, (3) Remote sensing, (4) English 3, (5) Local environmental management, (6) Ecology, conservation and society and (7) Environmental economy.
If you read it, sounds lovely. And besides beeing a lot of reading and stuff, was a nice semester. Taking English was super assertive, cause many of the readings assigned to me, were completely in English, so it helped me out to improve my reading skills.
My favourite one was an elective I took, "Ecology, Conservation and Society". I liked it because first of all, we were like 10 students, so that means an active conversation to the teacher -Martìn Escobar- more than an expository class, that isn't very helpfull to this topics. Every week we had theoretical classes, but most of the time was analysis through lectures and discussion of them, as well as practical work in classes, with real studies. The real objective was to integrate in a particular situation the scientific-conservtionist-social dimensions. That field it is called Conservation Biology. That way, we could aplly like professionals an holistic view of an environmental problem.

Another thing that I loved about the elective, was that in the "discussion of papers" moment, we had tea and delicious stuff to eat, nd that makes it perfect!
I recommend that everyone take that elective, if you are into conservation. Besides learning a lot, the atmosphere of the class was very nice.
See you soon, my dear bloggers (or maybe not)
